I will like to nominate the Milena Chakarova RN, CMSRN for the healthcare hero award. She is always in front of her team and helping her fellow nurses. She is working in the unit to ensure the patients and family get the best possible care they can receive while away from home. Milena is works as a charge nurse but she is in constant movement helping all the nurses in the unit. She rounds on the patients to make sure all their needs are met and she check with each nurse working in the unit and help them with whatever they need help with and she does this on top of other duties she has to do as charge nurse. During this time patients have been alone with no family allow to visit due to health-safety reasons and having staff following up with them and even calling their family to let them know the patient is doing better it makes a difference on somebody life. It is so amazing to see the love, passion, caring, compassion and dedication that she displays every day. We all worry about the Covid -19 patients but we have had other patients that are very sick isolated and scare more than ever to be at the hospital. This is when we need nurses like Milena to be at the forefront to care for the patients and lead the team so they know they have somebody they can count on, no matter what happens, no matter what the day will bring during the shift. They all will be fine when they are together and they have a great nurse leading them, they know she will have their back.
That is the reason why I will like to nominate Milena for this award. Milena care for the patients but she puts especial attention to care for her peers and has done it even more during this difficult time. I am very proud to work with her.
